The Evolution of the Workplace

Building management systems, lighting and security, wired and wireless network access are all part of the smart building concept. CommScope recently hosted workshops with people from across the industry to hash out what the smart building of tomorrow will look like. See highlights in this video blog.

CommScope recently hosted a four-city roadshow called the “Evolution of the Workplace.” The events brought together presenters from across the building ecosystem—Navigant, JLL, IBM and CommScope. A consistent theme was that network technology is playing a big role in how workplaces are evolving. Building management systems, lighting and security, wired and wireless network access are all part of the smart building concept.

We had a diverse audience in each city that included IT and facility managers, network designers, consultants, and network project managers. There was a lot of engaging discussion around designing and managing an intelligent building, specifically as it relates provisioning network infrastructure as applications converge to IP. One thing seems clear, lots of data from multiple applications will be carried over Ethernet structured cabling in the workplace of tomorrow.
