CommScope’s Propel to be Showcased at OFC 2023

CommScope's Propel will be showcased during the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) 2023.

Next week, the fiber optics community will visit San Diego for the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) 2023. Each year, OFC is the premier event to learn about technology and business trends that impact the fiber optic industry.

There will be several exciting topics of interest to the data center community. These include the debate between coherent and direct detect transceivers for short reaches, co-packaged optics vs. pluggable transceivers, and how optics will enable artificial intelligence clusters.

This OFC will be a banner event for Propel™, our end-to-end, ultra-low loss, modular structured cabling fiber platform.

Propel will be recognized at the 2023 Lightwave Innovation Reviews. The judges said, “Propel by CommScope appears to be an upgrade over previous equipment models. Propel allows the ability to progress with the new standards being implemented with OM5 fiber. From an install side and planning, Propel can be deployed while still using legacy fiber, and data centers can upgrade while devices reach lifecycle ends.”

Propel is a completely modular structured cabling and connectivity solution with all the bandwidth, headroom, design flexibility and ease of installation to keep pace with your evolving data center or building network. High-density fiber panels, modules, adapters, and fiber assemblies and interchangeable components ensure fast and repeatable installation across multiple upgrades. With native 16-fiber connectivity and support for legacy 8-, 8- and 2-fiber applications, Propel enables the largest hyperscalers to migrate to 400G/800G while supporting smaller enterprise/campus networks as they shift to 50G/100G. Now you can maximize design options and manageability while reducing deployment time, cost and complexity.

OFC attendees will be able to see Propel firsthand in the Ethernet Alliance booth (#5417). As in previous years, the Ethernet Alliance will host a live interoperability demo. This important demo highlights the benefit of Ethernet as it enables high-speed communication between optical transceivers and switches from different vendors. This year’s demo will include 100G, 400G, and 800G Ethernet traffic. The transceivers used will range from short-reach 400G-SR8 and 400G-DR4, including breakout to 4x100G-DR to longer reach coherent 400ZR and OpenZR+. Connectivity between these high-speed switches and transceivers will be provided by Propel.

Come visit Booth #5417 and see how Propel can enable 100G, 400G, and 800G connectivity in your data center!
