Being responsive to your customer’s needs is an important part of any business model. Listening to their concerns, and acting upon them, is a sign of a good partnership. Our customers told us that the NEX10 connector was their preferred choice for outdoor small cell sites, so we have added that to our portfolio of LSF jumpers.
The LSF jumper is designed to be used in outdoor small cell sites. In that phrase, “outdoor small cell sites”, the key word is “small”. These sites are not intended to be macro sites, with six-foot tall antennas that you have to bend your neck backwards to see high up at the top of towers. These are “small” sites, which are lower to the ground, higher in concentration, and usually designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. These are the ones that will be necessary to be installed in high numbers to take advantage of the upcoming 5G possibilities.
How do networks design these small cell sites? Simply put, they use smaller parts, including smaller antennas, smaller combiners, and smaller, thinner cables. The challenge with the latter is combining small size with high performance. The LSF jumper, a three-eighths inch diameter cable with the characteristics of a larger, one-half inch cable, was specifically designed for small cell sites. The LSF2 is now the only 3/8” jumper with the NEX10 connector, providing both compact size and high performance, enabling even smaller connections for small cell sites.
The NEX10 connector has a smaller diameter than the previous most commonly used connector, the 4.3-10, and is fast becoming the connector of choice for small cell installations.
