Conventionally FTTH ODN is build using old splicing method; where fiber allocation, splicing, data upkeep was a tedius task and demanded skilled manpower to plan, implement and maintain network. The need to eliminate the splicing to save on cost, time and skilled manpower as well as the need for speed of deployment lead to innovative Plug and Play, flexible, modular, pre-connectorised FLX ODN solution. The FLX ODN solution is implemented by using various compnonents. FLX ODN Fiber Access Terminal is a basic building block to host Secondary - Level two - S2 splitter.The FLX ODN Fiber Access Terminal (FAT) is engineered with a three-layer structure, featuring a tray (Upper and lower layer) and body (Third layer).The body of the FAT is designed to handle the incoming cable and drop cables in vertically separated sections, reducing clutter while installtion and making it easy to mange during O&M activities.This design effectively mitigates potential service disruptions during installation and maintenance activities. The FLX ODN FAT serves as an enclosure for Level 2 (S2) splitter within the FTTX ODN architecture, facilitating connections between the Level 1 (S1) splitter and end-user connections. Its modular design accommodates various splitter capacities, including 2 x 1:8 LGX cassetes or 2 x 1:8 pre-connectorised or 1 x 1:16 pre-connectorized PLC tube-type splitters, making it adaptable for deployment in both high-density and low-density areas.An additional plate with 18 ports can be mounted on top of the tray for pre-connectorised PLC splitter deployment optionally. This enclosure is meticulously designed to house MPO and SC adaptors and connectors of the FLX Plug and play Cable terminations and varius modules making the solution flexible, modular and expandable. The adaptor plates allows secure connections and link monitoring activities. The FLX ODN FAT supports 12F input optical fiber cables with diameters ranging from 6 mm to 12 mm using the midspan port. It also has an additional branching port supporting 6 mm to 12 mm. Additionally, it provides 16 ports designed for 2 mm x 3 mm flat drop cables and 5 mm to 6 mm round drop cables. The diameter of the ports is suitable for using pre-connectorised drop cable too. This versatile enclosure is compatible with various cable constructions and offers a distributed splicing capacity: 12 splices on the body, 24 under the tray. This design facilitates separate handling of loose tube, 900-micron and 250-micron fibers in case required. The FLX ODN FAT is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations and can be mounted on walls or poles using appropriate accessories, making it an ideal choice for service providers seeking reliable and efficient fiber distribution solutions. FLX ODN FAT supports mutiple configuration of the cable arrangements for dropping 1F or 2F for S2 splitters connection, referred as 1F1R or 2F2R tail cables, supporting low density or high density application.The innovative coexistence of FTTx and allied network construction is facilitated by the inclusion of extra fibres in the distribution cable tails. In addition, flexible internal fiber modules for the FAT allow for network growth and enhance the utilisation of the distribution network (e.g. forward, reverse, branching, loopback).
